Ability to sort/order bars in Bar Chart

Currently, it seems that the bars tend to be sorted randomly at times or sometimes in alphabetical order.

It would be excellent to have a feature where it's possible to sort the order of bars, e.g. alphabetically, by value etc.

Good news! The functionality to sort bars alphabetically, by value or custom, is available on the "Horizontal Bar chart". can read more about it here: databox.com/new-visualizations-and-powerful-charts-2

Currently, it is not possible to customize the order of Bar Chart on x-axis. They are being ordered by value, which leads to a different appearance for some Datablocks.

The Customer would like to be able to set a custom order of Dimensions on the x-axis of the Bar Chart.

I also very much want Bar Chart sorting features. We're starting to do much more HubSpot contact property charting in Databox, and the ability to custom sort the charts to easily see things like "top 5 contact industries", "top 5 areas of interest", etc, would be very valuable for us. The current default sort order seems to be kind of random and makes it harder to easily scan for trends like this. (See the attached screenshot for how the sort orders are currently showing up.)

My company uses the Bar Chart with Dimensions info in x-axis to display the magnitude of the value from each Dimension.
It'd be very helpful if the Dimensions could be sorted in a certain order - by value, or alphabetically by the Dimension name. It will make more sense and be more readable for our clients who create their charts in Excel and organize it in a meaningful way. It would be a great feature to convince them that this reporting platform is versatile and a preferable platform for reporting.

Yes, our use case is that we are displaying a pipeline from CRM and would like to see the same order in Databox. Right now, the order based on values. It needs to be as original data from the Data Source, or us being able to manually set the order.
Thanks.

Killer feature!
We at Carvolution.ch are charting subscriptions that are segmented by the size of the kilometer package or by minimum duration in months. Charts (stacked Bar Charts or Pie Charts) come out unreadable, therefore this Roadmap request means a lot to us at the moment.
Thanks for all your votes!!!!

I am a new user of Databox, and I was quite confused with the order of the bars in Bar Chart when I first used it, as I couldn't understand the logic of it. What confused me even more, was when, like Nick, I had two different Datablocks using the same Dimensions, but they were being shown in totally different orders! This can't be right?

It would be great if we can sort/order the bars:
- alphabetically
- by created date
- ascending / descending
- or simply by the order we select our Dimensions

It would also be nice to hear from Databox what the logic of this is (if any), and whether they will look into this. This request was made more than a year ago, and it seems people do want this changed.

Hi Sheila,

Thanks for sharing your valuable feedback.

We are planning to improve our charts and their functionalities significantly throughout the 2022, and we are considering including this improvement in our planning as well.
As soon as there will be any update regarding this improvement request we'll notify our users via this post.

Sandra from Databox

I would like to be able to change the order of Dimensions in a Bar graph.
It's currently displaying 2019, 2021, 2020. I would like to arrange these in either ascending or descending year order (i.e. 2021, 2020, 2019 or 2019, 2020, 2021).

I second this.
Seems like an easy enough fix, but one that would be very useful.
It especially becomes a problem when you have two different Datablocks using the same Dimensions (ex. GA channels), but the channels are being shown by different orders, and randomly. Alphabetical sorting here would be a huge improvement.
